Osavi Ashwagandha Extra, 400mg - 120 vegan caps

I have been using Ashwagandha for several years, in various dosage strengths, so the chance to try some from Osavi was a welcome opportunity. I have tried other supplements from this brand. The recommended dose is 1 capsule per day after meal which backs up the 4-month supply. A daily dose will provide 400mg of Ashwagandha which is very low compared to others I have tried. It is a standard-size capsule and easy to swallow with no bad aftertaste. I don't know whether it is a placebo or this is real but Ashwagandha really works for me. As with most supplements, there isn't a quick fix, you need to have faith that what you are taking is having a positive effect on you. I feel it is more on the expensive side for such a low dose of the active ingredient.

The tub arrived with the safety/anti-tamper seal in tact. When I removed it there was an odd odour coming from the bottle. It reminded me of a smell similar that you get at the dentist mixed with aniseed. It isn't pleasant and quote off-putting. I have ordered many different versions of Ashwagandha from different manufacturers but there has never been any smell coming from them before. This is quite off-putting and I probably won't consume any more of these. I did take one to see if there was any after-taste from the capsules, which there wasn't, but the capsules did have the same smell coming from them albeit not as strong. I don't know why these have a smell but it has put me off from taking these capsules. Based on my experience with this product on this occasion I wouldn't recommend them.

We both use Ashwagandha. This product is OK but it's not the best one we have tried. As other reviewers have noted there is a faint but strange aroma in the packaging. The capsules themselves are easy to swallow and I didn't notice any after-taste. What's more notable for me though is that I did not sleep quite as well in the week I used this as I did during the weeks taking our usual brand. It might just be a question of needing to adapt, but I didn't feel these are as strong or effective as what I am used to.

It is difficult writing a review about supplements because what works for one person will not work for another. You need to do your own research into why you want to take a supplement and what you hope to get out of it before purchasing. I take a number of different supplements and I've taken a few Osavi products in the past that I am happy with. One of the most important aspects of taking supplements is that you want to do right by your body so you need to trust the brand you are using. Osavi seem trustworthy to me and I am happy with this Ashwagandha. I particularly like to take it at the same time as Lemon Balm, which I also purchase off MySupplementShop.
