PhD Advanced Mass, Chocolate Fudge Brownie - 5400 grams

I generally buy PhD products however first time with this one. Wouldn't buy again. Maybe my metabolism as I get into my 40s but this just swelled my stomach not my arms!! I lift very heavy and intensely so need a good supplement and didn't like this one. Terrible to mix to. Have gone back to the tired and trusted method of high protein/low carbs whey then eat proper carbs. Stomach decreased in size!!

The term chew could be misleading as these are jelly bars jam-packed with sugar. Their texture takes some getting used to, and while not unpleasant is a little unique. They are very sticky though which isn't the best as can leave your hands/fingers a little tacky. Flavour-wise they are a little too intense for me though lack the chemically tastes of sweetener laced bars. There is a lingering aftertaste that made me have a drink after every bite. The energy impact is pretty much instant and so these would be really impactful while exercising, but probably not the best for a quick pick-me-up at work. As a bottom level, amateur runner these really are overkill for my needs and far outside what I would generally pay for a carb boost. If you are more serious or your exercise sessions are long and intense, they may be a good addition to your supplies.

I looked forward to trying this protein but have been massively disappointed. The recommended 3 scoops per serving to 600ml of water is a complete joke. It would completely fill up any mixer or blender leaving no or very little room for water etc to be added. So I even tried 1 scoop which I found I have to put in 750ml of water and it was still thick and gloopy and ended up throwing it away. For 3scoops you would need 2.5-3litres of water. That's ridiculous. What shaker could possibly take that volume and who would want to drink that much. So I even tried one scoop giving 16grams of protein and 350calories I may as well have brought any whey protein shake at half the cost! Lastly the taste is horrendous, it's so sugary and just doesn't dilute with the amount of scoops to the amount of water. I've trained 16years and I can honestly say this is the worst protein I've ever brought. What a massive disappointment with a product which aims so high. Don't wasted your money like I did.

This is a type of product I have not come across before - usually I would have gone for liquid gel packs to fuel my runs or cycling endeavours, or to pre-empt a HIIT session at the gym. This product is more like a pack of un-made jelly - almost like it is something you're supposed to turn into something else - like astronaut food. But in reality you're to consume it as-is, and it is quite nice and tasty with strong orange-flavouring that it manages to achieve without using artificial sweeteners. They are aimed at those who are looking to get a lot of carbs into their system quickly for a sustained effort, so it is quite a specific target audience, but it seems like they've hit the mark pretty well. Not sure about the name of the product as beta fuel' could give the impression that it is fuel for betas' and nobody would want to refer to themselves as a beta'. For a price of about 1.60 per chew they are more expensive per dose than standard gels, but if you reserve these for just the appropriate occasions then they may well be worth it.
